ThyssenKrupp VDM puts two new ESR units into operation

ThyssenKrupp VDM continues to invest in its Unna location, Germany. During the past few weeks, the manufacturer of nickel alloys, special stainless steels and semi-finished products in zirconium and titanium has successfully put two new electroslag remelting (ESR) units on-stream. With both the installation and the subsequent start-up phase having gone perfectly smoothly, there are now five ESR units in operation at the Unna melting plant.

ThyssenKrupp VDM awarded approval as a "known consignor"

ThyssenKrupp VDM has been approved by the German Federal Aviation Office as a "known consignor". Without this approval, air cargo consignments will be deemed "insecure" as of 25 March of next year and have to undergo a separate security check before each flight. This can result in higher costs and longer delivery times.

ThyssenKrupp VDM obtains ASME certification

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) recently certified ThyssenKrupp VDM's quality assurance system in accordance with international guidelines. ASME develops technical guidelines and standards for among other things pressure vessels and piping in the nuclear industry. The Quality System Certificate (QSC-671) confirms that ThyssenKrupp VDM is a reliable supplier of material for these applications.

A German first: ThyssenKrupp VDM's Corporate Health Management certificated by TÜV NORD

ThyssenKrupp VDM is the first, and so far only, company in Germany, to be certificated by TÜV NORD for its Corporate Health Management (CHM) system. Of the 130 or so companies which have participated in the initiative to date, the Werdohl based company is the first to meet the high requirements at the first attempt.
