Local Member of the European Parliament visits VDM Metals

At the invitation of the Group Works Council of the VDM Metals Group, Prof. Dr. Dietmar Köster, Member of the European Parliament, visited the Unna site of the world market leader for nickel alloys and special stainless steels on 9 May. In addition to an exchange on general political and industry-specific topics, a tour of the melting plant was part of the agenda.

Successful DIN EN 9100 recertification

On 9 April 2019, we proudly received the DIN EN 9100 certificate, which applies to the Altena, Unna and Werdohl locations, from TÜV Nord. DIN EN 9100, which is based on the general quality management standard according to DIN EN ISO 9001, is an extension of the standard that applies specifically to the aerospace industry.

On Friday, 21 December 2018, Aperam S.A., Luxembourg, announced that it will not pursue the in-depth investigation (Phase II) initiated by the European Commission with respect to the acquisition of the VDM Metals Group.

VDM Metals introduces new metal dusting resistant alloy at Achema

VDM Metals has developed a new material for the application in petrochemical industry under metal dusting conditions at high pressure. VDM® Alloy 699 XA (2.4842) is a nickel-chromium-aluminium alloy that is characterized by excellent metal dusting and creep resistance as well as a good workability.

VDM Metals develops new high-temperature material for turbochargers

With VDM® Alloy C-264, VDM Metals has launched a new nickel-based alloy with excellent strength and creep properties for use in a temperature range up to 900 °C. Applications for the new material, available as strip, include ultra-efficient turbochargers.

Rolf Schencking takes over as CTO at VDM Metals Group

Nickel and special stainless steels producer VDM Metals Group has appointed Rolf Schencking as new Chief Technical Officer (CTO). The 49-year-old mechanical engineer has officially taken over the position at VDM Metals Group on 1 April 2018.

New data sheet available for VDM® Alloy 22

VDM® Alloy 22 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy containing tungsten and extremely low carbon and silicon contents. The alloy has a broad field of application in the chemicals and petrochemicals industry and is used for components in organic processes that contain chloride and for catalytic systems.
