The VDM Metals Center of Excellence Welding is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and process technologies. A team of qualified welding metallurgists, welding engineers, and welding technicians is available to answer our customers’ questions regarding welding technology.
Our service portfolio
Our key areas of focus include:
- Development and optimization of welding consumables and applications
- Development of welding parameters for new materials
- Qualification and approval of new welding consumables
- Consulting on welding techniques and welding parameters
- New technologies such as laser or wire arc additive manufacturing
The Center of Excellence Welding draws on state-of-the-art infrastructure—ranging from metallography using optical and electron microscopes to mechanical and technological materials testing and a corrosion laboratory.
In addition, our customers have access to an extensive sample inventory at the Service Center in Werdohl, which keeps semi-finished products from the VDM Metals portfolio and new developments in a wide range of dimensions readily available for test welding. Furthermore, it is also possible to obtain welded samples for application-specific testing.
