VDM Metals, based in Werdohl, Germany, forms the High Performance Alloys division of the Acerinox Group, headquartered in Madrid, Spain. "Acerinox signed the Global Compact back in 2013, and with VDM Metals joining, we are renewing our commitment as a Group: Acerinox has the firm commitment to contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals approved by the United Nations, particularly via manufacturing entirely and endlessly recyclable products, while also promoting innovation, education, equality policies and mitigate climate change," explains Bernardo Velázquez, Chief Executive Officer of the Acerinox Group.

"VDM Metals finds itself in good company by joining the UN Global Compact. Sustainability in the economic, ecological and social sense has been at the center of our actions for a long time," explains Dr. Niclas Müller, Chief Executive Officer at VDM Metals: "For example, VDM Metals has a very differentiated recycling system and certified management systems for energy and environmental management. We also set high standards in the areas of health, occupational safety and training, which benefit both individuals and society."

Under the Global Compact, participating companies are called upon to align their business operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environmental protection and anti-corruption, and to commit to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Thus, the UN Global Compact creates a unique framework to shape globalization across industries and borders. More than 23,000 companies from around 170 countries worldwide have already joined the initiative.
