The reason for the visit was the ubiquitous topic of corona. "In these times it is extremely difficult to bring companies and trainees together. This is precisely why it is important for us to find out how some companies are tackling and overcoming these difficulties," says Schmidt, who is also running for the office of District Administrator in Märkischer Kreis. "VDM Metals is known as one of the best training companies and has now also attracted positive attention in dealing with the pandemic in times of crisis".

After a brief company presentation, visitors were able to form their own impression of the VDM career forge and see how the trainees' everyday working life is conducted under Corona-compliant conditions. "Despite the exceptional situation, we were again able to welcome 20 new trainees this year, which is comparable to figures from previous years. So we do not see any negative change for us," says Christian Schepers, apprentice trainer at VDM Metals.
